Serene Greens
By Cynthia Unninayar
The color green is most often associated with Nature and the cool, soothing colors of the environment. In the Middle Ages, brides wore green to symbolize fertility, while today, it stands for life and vigor, hope and renewal. A calming color, green is said to be the easiest color on the eyes, and is reported to have a relaxing effect on the mind. In jewelry, green is one of the most popular trends. It comes in many shades, from dark, rich emeralds and tourmalines to the lighter lime greens of peridot and beryl.
Other popular green gemstones include diopside, chrysoprase, tsavorite, green sapphire, malachite, green spinel, and of course the many shades of jade.
